USA Wins Gold in Columbia, Qualifies for 2014 World Championships



Team cruises to victory against tough Argentina, sets the 
bar high for future competition 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – August 15, 2013. Team USA recently earned a gold medal finish
 at the IWBF America’s Cup in Bogota, Columbia. With the victory, USA clinched one of four 
qualifying bids to the men’s wheelchair basketball World Championships that will be held in 
Incheon, South Korea in July 2014. After going undefeated in pool play, USA handily defeated 
Argentina 67-36 in the gold medal game.

New York City Wheelchair Basketball Tournament Returns on October 5-6, 2013

The 13th annual Matthew Sapolin Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (formerly the Mayor’s Cup) will bring the nation’s best wheelchair basketball teams to New York City for two days of non-stop action on October 5 & 6! The tournament, held at Manhattan College in the Bronx, is the largest of its kind in the Northeast and has become one of the premier events on the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) schedule. The deadline for teams to register is September 13th so make sure to sign up soon! For more information about this year’s tournament, please visit Facebook.com/SapolinTournament

Grace: Wheelchair athlete doesn't dwell on closed doors; he's pushed open many others

Mike Kult is taking me on a building tour when, suddenly, a closed door appears. I panic at the protocol.

Do I let him get the door because he is my host at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and he's a man, and this is still a social convention I follow?

Or do I rush to open the door to spare him the reach — he IS in a wheelchair. And good grief, how many doors are there in UNO's massive, redone athletic building

 The mission of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) junior division is to encourage participation and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of wheelchair basketball.  The junior division executive committee has adopted the Coach’s Code of Ethics as a set of principles to guide the coach’s conduct in situations that have ethical implications.
