NWBA Teams Up With USA Basketball to Offer Customized E-Learning Coaching Plans
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is excited to partner with USA Basketball, the national governing body of basketball, to offer FREE online customized e-learning plans designed to aid the development of youth coaching in the sport.
More information and promotional codes to waive all fees to complete these course plans will be provided to coaches during 2023-24 NWBA Non-Athlete Registration.
The USA Basketball E-learning program is an online certification program designed for organizations whose mission is to provide ongoing development for their coaches teaching the game of basketball to young players. Organization administrators and program directors who already are background screened have the ability to select from a menu of courses created by USA Basketball that focus on a variety of topics, including the player development model, building program culture, leadership training for coaches and teaching skill development.
Below are the plan offerings:
Positive Impact Plan
Develop as a leader and positively impact team culture.
Course 1 - Framework for Youth Development
- Gain a better understanding of the life skills taught through basketball, from confidence to relationship building to accountability and sportsmanship. Coaches will learn the basics of developing their own coaching philosophy.
Course 2 - Creating Your Program Culture
- Learn how to develop a positive culture by understanding players, building trust and utilizing positive reinforcement.
Course 3 - Leadership Skills for Coaches
- Learn how to build trust and respect with players, the importance of having sincere conversations and positive ways to build genuine relationships
Comprehensive Impact Plan
Develop as a leader, positively impact team culture and learn shooting and defensive fundamentals.
All of the above courses +Plus:
Course 4 - Introductory Shooting Fundamentals
- Learn shooting fundamentals and progressive steps to teach the skill.
Course 5 - Building an Introductory Defense
- Learn the fundamentals of individual and team defense.
Coaches will receive a certificate of completion when they finish all courses in either plan, and the knowledge to better their skills for the next season.
