Colorado Springs, Colo. - The National Wheelchair Basketball Association will host a public screening of the award-winning documentary, The Rebound, for 1,000 attendees as a part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament presented by ABC Medical in Louisville, Kentucky on March 31 at 8 pm. The screening will take place at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Expo Center in the Main Ballroom. Tickets are open to the public and available with free RSVP at: TheReboundNWBT.eventbrite.com.

The NWBA and The Rebound announce a two-year partnership focused on increasing awareness and expanding participation in wheelchair basketball at all levels. Collaborative initiatives, including The Rebound Premiere at NWBT, will be aimed at engaging and empowering community members and organizations in a grassroots movement to grow the sport.

The Rebound follows the underdog journey of the Miami Heat Wheels, a wheelchair basketball team, in their quest for a national title, despite the teams dwindling resources. Three adaptive athletes rally their team towards the title while striving for their own dreams on and off the court.  In a city known for its sports and diversity, the players have an opportunity for second chances, and to win against all odds.

In order to continue to increase awareness of the importance of wheelchair basketball, it is important for us to partner with The Rebound, said Jim Scherr, NWBA Executive Director. The films title exemplifies the passion and spirit of our athletes. It is fitting to kick off the partnership by premiering the film at the NWBT. The Rebound Team has created an excellent vehicle to provide our membership with an opportunity to create interest for wheelchair basketball across the country, as well as provide a fundraising platform with a turn-key event, like the Rebound Screening we will have in Louisville.

The NWBT screening will be attended by members of the Miami Heat Wheels, Paralympic athletes and many other notable members of the community. The event will serve as the kickoff to a national screenings tour for The Rebound in partnership with the NWBA in an effort to increase awareness of wheelchair basketball, improve access to adaptive sports opportunities for people of all abilities, and inspire a generation to live beyond their challenges.

The Rebound is presented by Shaina Koren Cinematography in association with DNA Films and One Day One Cause. The Rebound is directed by Shaina Allen, produced by Mike Esposito, and executive produced by Nick Nanton, and JW Dicks.  For more information on The Rebound please visit www.reboundthefilm.com.
