The NWBA continues its successful Operation Rebound program this summer as the NWBA will host three clinics around the country. Operation Rebound clinics are for active duty or injured service veterans only. Each Operation Rebound Clinic will provide assistance with chair fitting, wheelchair basketball instruction from coaches on game fundamentals, introduction to classification, an opportunity to view elite competition and participation in games.

Douglas Garner, head coach at the University of Texas at Arlington will lead a host of coaches in bringing knowledge and camaraderie to the camp participants. “Basketball is the perfect vehicle for our veterans to not only push themselves physically and mentally, but also as a tool to help them find their new team, their new band of brothers - a group who has each other’s backs when they cross those lines into a new battleground on the hardwood,” said Garner.

Some of the other coaches include former U.S. Men’s Head Coach and current Edinboro Head Coach James Glatch, current U.S. Men’s Assistant Coach and Seattle Sonics Head Coach Christian Burkett, Miami Heatwheels Head Coach Parnes Cartwright, and current U.S. Men’s athlete Jorge Sanchez. Some of the NWBA’s top players will be on hand at different clinics to share their skills and knowledge include Kevin Atherley, Will Speed, Steve Smutak, Bobby Nickelberry, U.S. Paralympic medalist Jason Nelms and former U.S. Women’s athlete Andrea Woodson-Smith.
