The NWBA is hosting the 2017 NWBA Women’s Development Camp on November 9 -13 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The NWBA Women’s Development Camp is an opportunity for athletes to gain exposure to the U.S. National Team’s coaching team. The camp will be led by U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Trooper Johnson of San Lorenso, California. Coach Johnson will be assisted at the camp by assistant coaches Amy Spangler of Madison, Wisconsin and Adam Kramer of Northport, Alabama. Athletes will experience similar training and instruction similar to that of the U.S. National Team’s athletes.

“The NWBA Women's Development Camp is a unique opportunity for players of all talent levels to get a taste of what it's like to compete on the elite level. Everyone is welcome,” said 2017 U.S. Women’s National Team member Riley Ljungdahl, 17, of Longmont, Colorado. Ljungdahl attended the America’s Cup Qualifier in August where the U.S. Women qualified for the 2018 World Championships and 2019 Parapan Am Games. Ljungdahl was a participant at the 2016 NWBA Women’s Development Camp on October 20-23 at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama.

“By attending the NWBA Women's Development Camp, I was able to get a taste of what tryouts for the Women's National Team would be like, and the amount of work it takes to get to that point. The greatest skill I learned at the Development camp was persistence and dedication. These attributes must be ingrained into your everyday training to get to the National Team Level.” Ljungdahl said.

“Anyone interested in competing at the National Team level or getting the resources that National Team athletes have… I urge you to go ahead and get involved in the NWBA Women’s Development Camp,” said Coach Johnson.

Instruction and training from Coach Johnson will include: over 20 hours of on-court instruction, individual video analysis of pushing mechanics and shooting form, advanced individual skills drills, detailed player evaluation, benchmarks for individual player development and personalized take-home drills.

Athletes interested in attending the NWBA Women’s Development Camp are encouraged to submit an application. All NWBA members are eligible to submit an application. The capacity for the NWBA Women’s Development Camp is 30 athletes. The NWBA will send confirmation emails to selected candidates at least four weeks prior to camp.

The registration fee to attend the 2017 NWBA Women’s Development Camp is $500.00. The registration fee includes: meals, on-campus housing, shuttle transportation and a Nike Dri-Fit T-shirt.

The last day to register for the 2017 NWBA Women’s Development Camp is Thursday, October 12. The NWBA encourages athletes to wait for their conformation email before booking travel accommodations.
