COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) invites you to celebrate National Wheelchair Basketball Week with a week full of fun activities and events. The National Wheelchair Basketball Week is a week-long celebration of wheelchair basketball and the progress the sport has made since founded in 1948.

To celebrate National Wheelchair Basketball Week the NWBA is hosting a week’s worth of history, trivia, prizes and contests on the social media accounts for the NWBA. The following are this week’s featured events available on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for the NWBA:

Monday –  Did You Know – Unique facts about the NWBA

Tuesday –  Trivia Tuesday – Historical trivia about the NWBA

Wednesday –  Photo Caption Contest – Write the caption of a NWBA moment caught on film

Thursday –  Throw Back Thursday (TBT) Photo Contest – Archived photos of you enjoying wheelchair basketball

Friday – Feature Friday – Highlighting NWBA athletes and team activities this week

Monday’s “Did You Know” and “Trivia Tuesday” reflect on the past 69 years and achievements of the NWBA and wheelchair basketball. Individuals answering Tuesday’s trivia question correctly will be entered into a drawing to receive some great prizes.

Wednesday will feature “Photo Caption Contest” consisting of several wheelchair basketball photos from past and present wheelchair basketball generations. Followers are encouraged to “comment” on a photo with the caption they deem fit. The individual with the best caption for each photo will receive a prize.

For Thursday’s TBT Photo Contest, the NWBA encourages its members to post their favorite moment with the NWBA using the hashtag #tbt and tagging the NWBA. The top three throwback photos will receive prizes.

Teams are asked to share their experiences of National Wheelchair Basketball Week and their campaign efforts throughout the week via social media sites Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtags #NWBA and #RollWithUS. The NWBA will share these experiences on the official NWBA social media sites on “Feature Friday”.

National Wheelchair Basketball Week kicked off with the Annual NWBA Campaign on October 13 as opportunity for grassroots programs within the NWBA to raise funds and awareness for their individual teams. The Annual NWBA Campaign will run October 13th to November 22nd. The top four performing programs will receive prize packages. The NWBA Campaign Kit introduces a variety of fundraising platforms for NWBA teams to utilize during the campaign. National Wheelchair Basketball Week will conclude at the NWBA Preseason National Invitation Tournament presented by CarMax from October 20-22. The NWBA Preseason NIT will open the 2017-18 NWBA season with some top-level talent in the Junior Varsity Division, Adult Division II and Adult Division III. The EJ Wade Arena at the VCU Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia will host the three-day tournament.
