COLORADO-SPRINGS, COLORADO – The 2017-2018 season the Women’s Division of the NWBA. The Women’s Division has 12 teams registered; the NWBA welcomes three new teams to the division: Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets Women, San Diego Black Widows and the Arizona Storm. Teams within the Women’s Division must play a minimum of four games against any NWBA sanctioned team in the Women’s Division and Adult Divisions I, II, and III.

There are a few rules changed for the Women’s Division for the 2017-2018 NWBA season. The Women's Division will play with a time regulation of four quarters. During Women's Division games, the ball can now be advanced in last minute of the game when a timeout is called to half court. The Women’s Division has been approved as a pilot program to utilize athletes not meeting player eligibility requirements to play in competition within the Women’s Division. Please note the Women’s Division will be collecting information pertaining to these athletes at the conclusion of the season.

The 2018 National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NWWBT) will be hosted by PossAbilities Shield Maidens is March 23-25, 2018 at the Veterans Sports Complex located at 22400 Moneta Ave Carson, California 90745.

The Veterans Sports Complex is a mere 30 minutes south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), 25 minutes east of Manhattan Beach, and 35 minutes west of Disneyland. The Veterans Sports Complex features two regulation size basketball courts and one smaller court. The Baymont Inn and Suites located at 14814 Hawthorne Blvd. Lawndale, CA 90260 has been selected as the tournament’s hotel host. The Baymont Inn is 20 minutes south of LAX, and 15 minutes north of Veterans Sports Complex. Thirty rooms have been reserved for March 22-25, 2018. The rates are as followed:

          · 25 Double queen bedrooms for $101.99/night (excluding tax, increases $10 with 3 occupants,

            increases $20 with 4 occupants)

          · 5 ADA single queen-bed rooms for $93.49/ night (excluding tax)

Team registration for the 2018 National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is $350 per team. Further information will be provided regarding the 2018 NWWBT when available.
