This week October 31- November 5th, NWBA teams and organizations host several NWBA sanctioned events across the country. All events are open to the public.

The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites. See event details below.

 

Courage Kenny Classic (Nov. 4-5) 

The Courage Kenny Sports & Recreation Department hosts the 2017 Courage Kenny Classic at Hastings High School, 200 General Sieben Dr, Hastings, Minnesota. This year is the 35th year anniversary of the Courage Kenny Classic and serves as the 2017 NWBA Junior Division Northern Regional Qualifying Tournament. Two bids to the 2018 NWBA National Championships are available to the top teams.

The Courage Kenny Classic welcomes six Junior Division Varsity teams and four Junior Division Prep teams to compete this year. Each team is guaranteed at least four games.

The Minnesota Jr. Rolling Timberwolves of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Minnesota Jr. Rolling Gophers of Minneapolis, Minnesota; RHI Racers of Indianapolis, Indiana; Nebraska Red Dawgs of Omaha, Nebraska; Mad City Badgers of Madison, Wisconsin; Atlanta Jr. Blaze Hawks

The Minnesota Rolling Rowdies of Minneapolis, Minnesota; SportAbility Rolling Panthers of Prairie City; and the Nebraska Red Dawgs Prep Teams one and two of Omaha, Nebraska will compete in the Junior Prep Division.

Both divisions will receive All Tournament Team and MVP awards.

Shepherd Shoot Out (Nov. 3-5)

The Shepherd Center hosts the Shepherd Shoot Out at 2020 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia. Six teams will compete in Divisions I, II, Intercollegiate Men and Women.

Competing teams include: Shepherd Stealers of Atlanta, Georgia; the Miami Heat Wheels of Miami Beach, Florida; the Memphis Rollin’ Grizzlies of Horn Lake, Mississippi; the Charlottesville Cardinals of Charlottesville, Virginia; and The University of Alabama Men’s and Women’s teams of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

A Tournament Champion and MVP awards are provided.

NC Winter Classic (Nov. 4-5)

The North Carolina (NC) Winter Classic is a two-day tournament presented by Abilities Unlimited of the Carolinas, Bridge II Sports, and the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets of Matthew, North Carolina. Porter Ridge High School and Middle School hosts the event at 2839 Ridge Rd, Indian Trail, North Carolina.

Eight teams will complete in the NC Winter Classic in the Prep Division and Varsity Division. Competing teams include: Lakeshore Lakers of Birmingham Alabama; the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets Varsity of Matthews, North Carolina; the Bridge II Sports Jr. Thunder of Durham, North Carolina; the Music City Thunder of Franklin, Tennessee; the UAH Chargers of Huntsville, Alabama; the BlazeSports Hawks - Prep of Norcross, Georgia; the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets - Prep of Matthews, North Carolina; and the Roger C. Pease Rollin’ Tigers of Greenville, South Carolina.

Each team will play at least four games. Built into Saturday’s breaks are a 3-Point Contest, Hot Shot Contest and Shark Champ Contest. Contest winners will receive individual awards.

Awards for top two teams in Varsity and Prep Divisions, All-Tournament Team, and MVP for both divisions are provided.

Games are expected to be completed by 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5 following the awards ceremony.

4th Annual Pete Corapi Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Nov. 4-5)

The 4th Annual Pete Corapi Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Tournament at the James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Rd, Falls Church, Virginia is hosted by the Fairfax Falcons Paralympic Sports of Fairfax, Virginia.

Teams from the Prep Division, Varsity Division, and Adult Divisions I, II, and III are attending.

The first place winner for each division will receive a prize in addition to the Pete Corapi Spirit Award for an athlete in each division.

Teams attending the Pete Corapi Memorial Tournament are: Fairfax Falcons of Fairfax, Virginia; Bennett Blazers of Baltimore, Maryland; Katie's Komets of Collegeville, Pennsylvania;

Sportable Spokes of Richmond, Virginia; Ryan Martin Foundation Trojans of Simsbury, Connecticut; New York Rolling Fury of Dix Hills, New York.

Keep up the Pace Jr. Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Nov. 4-5)

The Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting the Keep up the Pace Jr. Wheelchair Basketball Tournament at the Mary Free Bed YMCA, 5500 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Varsity and Prep Divisions on November 4-5.

All players, coaches, volunteers, and officials will receive a tournament t-shirt and meal ticket.

Both divisions will receive first place team trophies and medals. The tournament features food trucks Pizzaiolo and PattyMatters

Attending teams include: the Mary Free Bed Jr. Pacers Varsity and Prep of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Michigan Rollin’ Pistons/Challengers Varsity and Prep of Ann Arbor, Michigan; the Achievement Centers Jr. Wheelchair Cavaliers of Strongsville, Ohio; and the Turnstone Flyers - Prep of Fort Wayne Indiana.

Buckeye PVA Cup (Nov. 4-5)

The Cleo Dumaree Athletic Complex at 279 S. Nelson Rd., Columbus, Ohio is hosting the Buckeye PVA Cup this weekend. Divisions II and III will compete against each other for first, second, and third place.

Teams competing this weekend include the Miami Valley Raptors of Xenia, Ohio; the Music City Lightning of Franklin, Tennessee; the Turnstone Bandits of Fort Wayne, Indiana; the LWSRA Hawks of New Lenox, Illinois; the Louisville Spokes and Spires of Louisville, Kentucky; the Columbus WCB of Dayton, Ohio; the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and the RHI Pacers of Indianapolis, Indiana For more information, please contact James Terpenning at jamesterpenning@yahoo.com

 

Southwest Regional Tournament (Nov. 3-5)

The Oklahoma Adaptive Sports Association Venue hosts the Southwest Regional Tournament at the University of Central Oklahoma, 100 N. University, Edmond, Oklahoma. The tournament features Junior Prep and Junior Varsity Division teams. This event is a Junior Divisional Regional Qualifier.

Teams attending include: the Oklahoma Blaze Prep and Varsity of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; the Dallas Jr. Wheelchair Mavericks Varsity and Prep of Dallas, Texas; the STRAPS Stars from San Antonio, Texas; the Tulsa Jammers of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and the Austin Racers of Austin, Texas.

More Than Able Conference (Nov. 3-5)
