This Week in the NWBA (Dec. 4-10)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events in Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Kentucky and Floridia this week.

All events are open to the public. The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites

 

Rockford Holiday Tournament (Dec.9-10)
Rockford Park District and the Rockford Jr. Chariots of Rockford, Illinois host the Rockford Holiday Tournament at the UW Sports Factory, 305 South Madison St, Rockford, Illinois this weekend.

Twenty-four Junior Prep and Varsity teams from mainly the Midwest will compete in this two-day tournament. Teams will compete for first and second place team awards and AMA awards.  Individual awards are also available.

Metal and Muscle (Dec.8-10)
This weekend, the City of Houston and Adapted Sports Event and Expo host the Metal and Muscle. The Metal and Muscle is a ten team tournament for Adult Division III teams. Metal and Muscle is held at the George R Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston, Texas. Metal and Muscle features special guest, Maria Town, the Director of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.

Competing teams include: the Adult Division I TIRR Memorial Hermann Houston Hotwheels of Houston Texas; the Tyler Thorns of Tyler, Texas; the Corpus Christi RIMZ of Corpus Christi, Texas; the Victoria Bad News Chairs of Corpus Christi, Texas; the Austin Rec’ers of Austin, Texas; the Mobile Patriots of Mobile, Alabama; the San Antonio ParaSport Spurs of Round Rock, Texas; and the TIRR Houston Hotwheels Juniors of Houston, Texas.

Louisville Invitational Tournament (Dec. 9-10)
The Frazier Rehab/Louisville Parks & Rec and Louisville Spokes and Spires host the Louisville Invitational Tournament this weekend at the Berrytown Recreation Center 1300 Heafer Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

Four teams will compete in this Adult Division III tournament. Awards for the Most Valuable Player Award and first place are provided.

New England Blazers Memorial Tournament (Dec.9-10)
The New England Blazers will host the New England Blazers Memorial Tournament at the Brockton VA Medical Center, 940 Belmont St, Brockton, Massachusetts. Five teams will compete in Adult Divisions II and III. Each team will play four games.

The five teams competing are: the Adult Division III Axis Nights of New York, New York, the Adult Division II Bulova Nets of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; the Adult Division III Connecticut Spokebenders of Meriden, Connecticut; the Adult Division II Brockton Celtics of Raynham, Massachusetts; and the Adult Division II New England Blazers of Saugus, Massachusetts.

Awards for first-third place, MVP, All Tournament, and Sportsmanship are provided.

Tampa Bay Strong Dog Invitational (December 9-10)
Hillsborough County and the Tampa Bay Strong Dogs of Tampa, Florida host the Tampa Bay Strong Dog Invitational at the All Peoples Park 6105 E. Sligh Ave Tampa, Florida this weekend. Four teams will compete in Adult Divisions I and II.
