This Week in the NWBA (Jan. 1-7)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events in Texas, Colorado, Wisconsin and Nevada this week.

All events are open to the public (the U.S. Men's Selection Camp is invite only). The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites.

 

U.S. Men's National Team Selection Camp (Jan. 2-7)
The NWBA is hosting the U.S. Men's National Team Selection Camp from January 2-7, 2018 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. The 2018 U.S. Men’s National Team Selection Camps invitees will participate in drills and scrimmages that will give them a chance to demonstrate their individual fundamental skills and ability to play within the U.S. Men's National Team staff's playing system. The 2018 U.S. Men's National Team will travel to Hamburg, Germany on August 16-25, 2018, to participate in the 2018 IWBF World Championships. NWBA Midwest Junior Invitational Tournament (Jan. 6-7)
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will be hosting an NWBA Junior Division Regional Qualifying Tournament this Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be held in the Williams Center at 907 W. Schwager Drive, Whitewater, WI 53190 in the DLK Kachel Fieldhouse. 

The tournament will feature the following 14 teams from the Junior Varsity Division: Synergy Bulls of Carol Stream, IL, Rockford Chariots of Rockford, IL, Mad City Badgers of Madison, WI, Cincinnati Dragons of Cincinnati, OH, St. Louis Jr Rolling Rams of St. Louis, MI, Minnesota Jr. Rolling Gophers of Minneapolis, MN, LWSRA Rolling Falcons of New Lenox, IL, Minnesota Jr. Rolling Timberwolves of Minneapolis, MN, Nebraska Red Dawgs of Omaha, NE, Mary Free Bed Jr. Pacers of Grand Rapids, MI, WASA Jr. Bucks of Milwaukee, WI, Rancho Renegades of Downey, CA, Peoria Wildcats of Peoria, IL, Utah Rush of Salt Lake City, UT, and Chicago Skyhawks of Chicago, IL.

The tournament will feature the following six teams from the Junior Prep Division: LWSRA Rolling Falcons of New Lenox, IL, Minnesota Rolling Rowdies of Minneapolis, MN, Nebraska Red Dawgs of Omaha, NE, Mary Free Bed Jr. Pacers of Grand Rapids, MI, WASA Jr. Bucks of Milwaukee, WI and Chicago Skyhawks of Chicago, IL.

The tournament play will feature pool play that will provide seeding for single-elimination bracket play.

Rocky Mountain Invitational (Jan. 6-7)
Colorado Wheelchair Basketball and the Denver Rolling Nuggets will host an Adult Division I tournament this weekend. The tournament will be held at the Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Lakewood, CO at 150 South Harland Street.

The tournament field will include the following Adult Division I teams: Albuquerque Kings of Albuquerque, NM, Missouri Predators of and Kansas City, MI, Shepherd Stealers of Atlanta, GA, Denver Rolling Nuggets of Lakewood, CO and TIRR Memorial Herman Houston Hotwheels of Houston, TX.

Las Vegas YUCCAS DI Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Jan. 6-7)
The City of Las Vegas and the Paralympic Sports Club of Las Vegas will be hosting a fun two days of competition. The tournament will be hosted on the University of Nevada - Las Vegas campus at 4505 S Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

The field of teams for this tournament include: University of Arizona Wildcats - DI of Tucson, AZ, Golden State Road Warriors of Milpitas, CA, Utah Wheelin Jazz of Salt Lake City, UT and Las Vegas Yuccas of Las Vegas, NV.

Corpus Christi RIMZ Bayfront Classic (Jan. 6-7)
The Corpus Christi RIMZ welcome teams to their first event tournament hosted in Corpus Christi, TX for the 1st annual Bayfront Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. The venue for the tournament will be the Corpus Christi Natatorium located at 3202 Cabaniss Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78405.

The Bayfront Classic will play host to the following teams: Corpus Christi RIMZ of Corpus Christi, TX, Victoria Bad News Chairs of Corpus Christi, TX, Harker Heights Hustlers of Harker Heights, TX and Houston Hotwheels - DIII of Houston, TX.
