COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The Junior Division Ranking Committee has announced the 2017-18 January Rankings for Junior Varsity and Junior Prep Divisions. The TIRR Memorial Hermann Houston Junior Hotwheels retain the top spot for the Junior Varsity Division. The Minnesota Rolling Rowdies jump two spots to become the No. 1 ranked team in Junior Prep Division.
The TIRR Memorial Hermann Houston Junior Hotwheels remain No. 1 ranked team in Junior Varsity Division and undefeated on the season as (11-0). The BlazeSports Jr. Hawks and RHI Racers remain respectfully at No. 2 and No. 3 in the rankings. The WASA Jr. Bucks jump two spots to No. 4 after a strong showing at the Rockford Holiday Tournament. The Nebraska Red Dawgs crack the top five for the first time this season as they jump from No. 8 to No. 5 in the Junior Varsity Division Rankings.
The Minnesota Rolling Rowdies capture the No. 1 spot with a December that featured being crowned Champions of the Rockford Holiday Tournament. The Rowdies' were undefeated during tournament play that ended with a 36-18 victory over the Turnstone Flyers. The Turnstone Flyers secure the second spot in the Junior Prep Division Rankings with a division high in wins this season with 13 victories.
The LWSRA Rolling Hawks drop two spots to No. 3 after losing 25-13 to the Minnesota Rolling Rowdies at the Rockford Holiday Tournament. Rounding out the top five teams for the Junior Prep Division are the same teams from the season's inaugural rankings, with Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets Prep-Purple at No. 4 and the Lakeshore Sharks at No. 5.
The top 16 ranked teams for Varsity will earn an invite to play in the National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NJWBT) at the 2018 National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NWBT) presented by ABC medical in Louisville, Kentucky, April 12-15, 2018. Teams ranked 17-32 will receive an invite to participate in the National Junior Invitational Tournament at the 2017 NWBT. If a team does not accept their bid for post season play, invitations will be sent to the next team, in order of ranking, until both tournaments are filled. The top 16 ranked teams from Prep are initially offered an invitation to participant in the National Prep Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NPWBT) at the 2018 NWBT. After confirming the intent to attend of the top 16 teams an invitation is sent to the remaining teams to fill all 16 slots for the NPWBT.
Teams noted with an asterisk (*) are already qualified for the 2018 NWBT with secured bid.”
