This Week in the NWBA (Jan. 8-14)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events in Alabama, California, Kansas, New Jersey and Oklahoma.

All events are open to the public. The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites.

 

ASCAA Wheelchair Basketball Bash (Jan. 11-13)

The American Collegiate Society for Adapted Athletics will be hosting the ASCAA Wheelchair Basketball Bash from January 11-13, 2018. The tournament will be held at the YMCA Farha Center, located at 640 S. YMCA Drive, Andover, KS.

The tournament will feature the following 13 collegiate teams: University of Alabama (Men and Women) of Tuscaloosa, AL, University of Arizona (Women) of Tuscon, Arizona, Edinboro University (Men) of Edinboro, PA, University of Illinois (Men) of Champaign, IL, University of Missouri (Men) of Columbia, MO, Southwest Minnesota State University (Men) of Marshall, MN, University of Nebraska – Omaha (Men) of Omaha, NE, University of Texas – Arlington (Men and Women) of Arlington, TX, and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (Men and Women) of Whitewater, WI.

2018 Pioneer Classic (Jan. 12-14)

The Lakeshore Foundation will be hosting the 2018 Pioneer Classic from January 12-14, 2018. The tournament will be held at the Lakeshore Foundation, located at 4000 Ridgeway Drive, Birmingham, AL.

The tournament with feature the following seven Adult Division II teams: University of Auburn Tigers of Auburn, AL, Charlotte Rolling Hornets of Charlotte, NC, Ft. Lauderdale Sharks of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Longshore Storm of Birmingham, AL, Memphis Rolling Grizzles of Memphis, TN, Music City Lightning of Nashville, TN, and the Tampa Bay Strong Dogs of Tampa Bay, FL.

The tournament will also feature the following six Adult Division III teams: Auburn Tigers of Auburn, AL, Mobile Patriots, of Mobile, AL, Orlando Magic of Orlando, FL, Shepherd Stealers of Atlanta, GA, Tampa Bay Strong Dogs of Tampa Bay, FL, and the USM Golden Eagles of Hattiesburg, MS.

The Junior Varsity Division will be represented by the following three teams in the tournament: BlazeSports Jr. Hawks of Atlanta, GA, Lakeshore Lakers of Birmingham, AL, and the UAH Chargers of Huntsville, AL.

The Junior Prep Division will be representing by the following two teams in the tournament: BlazeSports Jr. Hawks of Atlanta, GA and the Lakeshore Sharks of Birmingham, AL.

The adult divisions will be competing in a round robin tournament.

Tulsa Roustabout’s Home Tournament (Jan. 13)

The City of Tulsa will be hosting the Tulsa Roustabout’s Home Tournament on January 13, 2018. The tournament will take place at the O’Brien Park, located at 6149 N. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK.

The tournament will feature the following four Adult Division III teams: Arkansas Rollin’ Razorbacks of Scott, AR, Fort Smith Shooting Stars of Fort Smith, AR, Tulsa Jammers of Tulsa, OK, and the Tulsa Roustabouts of Tulsa, OK.

1st Annual Nets Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Jan. 13-14)

The Wheelchair Sports Federation will be hosting the 1st Annual Nets Wheelchair Basketball Tournament from January 13-14, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Hackensack Middle School located at 360 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ.

The tournament will feature the following six Adult Division III teams: Brooklyn Nets of Brooklyn, NY, Connecticut Spokebenders of Meriden, CT, New England Blazers of Saugus, MA, Axis Knights of New York, NY, WSF Team Liberty of Brooklyn, NY and the Connecticut Rolling Sun Chapter 126 of Bristol, CT.

The tournament will be a three-game guaranteed format.

Central CA Juniors Tournament (Jan. 13-14)

The Valley Children’s Adaptive Sports will be hosting the Central CA Juniors Tournament from January 13-14, 2018. The tournament will take place at the John W. Wells Youth Center, located at 701 5th Street, Madera, CA.

The competition format for the tournament will be a round robin play.
