This Week in the NWBA (Feb. 5-11)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events in California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio and Virginia.

All events are open to the public. The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites.

 

U.S. Women’s Training Camp

The NWBA will host the U.S. Women’s National Team Selection Camp from February 5-8, 2018 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Throughout the camp, 17 of our nation’s top wheelchair basketball players will compete in scrimmages and run a multitude of drills to earn a spot on the 2018 U.S. Women’s team. The team will meet again in the following months for the selection of the final roster of 12 for the 2018 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships.

University of Illinois – Men Tournament (Feb. 9-10)

The University of Illinois will host the University of Illinois – Men Tournament from February 9-10, 2018. The tournament will be held at the Campus Recreation Activities and Recreation Center, located at 201 E. Peabody Dr., Champaign, IL.

The tournament will feature the following three Intercollegiate Women’s Division teams: University of Arizona – Women of Tucson, AZ, University of Illinois – Women of Champaign, IL and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater of Whitewater, WI

The following seven Intercollegiate Men’s Division teams will also be featured in the tournament: Auburn University of Auburn, AL, Edinboro University of Edinboro, PA, Southwest Minnesota State University of Marshall, MN, University of Illinois – Men of Champaign, IL, University of Missouri of Columbia, MO, University of Nebraska – Omaha of Omaha, NE and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater of Whitewater, WI.

WFFS Brad Rich 2nd Annual Invitational Tournament (Feb. 9-11)

The Warrior Foundation Freedom Station will host the WFFS Brad Rich 2nd Annual Invitational Tournament from February 9-11, 2018. The tournament will be held at the Gym Balboa, located at 2111 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, California and the San Diego City College, located at 1313 Park Blvd, San Diego, California.

The tournament will feature 12 Adult Division I teams.

Tournament of Champions (Feb. 10-11)

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association will host the Tournament of Champions from February 10-11, 2018. The tournament will be held at the Hickory Creek Middle School, located at 22150 S. Owens Rd., Frankfort, IL.

The tournament will feature the following four Junior Varsity Division teams that will play on Feb. 10: Chicago Skyhawks – Varsity of Chicago, IL, LWSRA Hawks – Varsity of New Lenox, IL, Peoria Wildcats of Peoria, IL, and the Rockford Chariots of Rockford, IL.

The following four Junior Prep Division team will play on Feb. 11: Chicago Skyhawks – Prep of Chicago, IL, GLASA C Cats of Lake Forest, IL, LWSRA Hawks – Prep of New Lenox, IL and the WASA Bucks – Prep of Brookfield, WI.

Enter the Dragon Tournament (Feb. 10-11)

The Greater Cincinnati Adapted Sports Club will host the Enter the Dragon Tournament from February 10-11, 2018. The tournament will be held at the Hamersville Elementary & Middle School, located at 1950 St. Rt. 125, Hamersville, OH. This will be a round robin tournament where each team will play every team in their division at least once.

The tournament will feature the following three Junior Prep Division teams: Cincinnati Dragons – Prep of Covington, KY, Louisville Prep of Louisville, KY and the RHI Racers of Indianapolis, IN.

The tournament will also feature the following three Junior Varsity Division teams: Cincinnati Dragons – Varsity of Covington, KY, Miami Valley Raptors of Xenia, OH and the Music City Thunder of Franklin, TN.

Harrisonburg Cardinals Games (Feb. 10-11)

Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation will host three games from February 10-11, 2018. The games will take place at the Lucy Simms Continuing Education Center, located at 620 Simms Ave., Suite 205, Harrisonburg, VA.

The games will feature the Harrisonburg Cardinals of Orange, VA, Sportable Rim Riders of Richmond, VA and the Virginia Sunwheelers of Virginia Beach, VA.
