The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events this week in Alabama, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.

All events are open to the public. The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites.

 

Team Registration for NWBT Due (Feb. 26)

All teams interested in attending the 2018 National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament presented by ABC Medical are encouraged to complete the Team Registration session. This registration session will be open until Monday, February 26 at 11:59 PM (MST). This registration session is an electronic submission of a postseason application for all teams in Junior Division and Adult Division hoping to attend the 2018 NWBT.

Teams completing this registration are not guaranteed an invitation to the 2018 NWBT presented by ABC Medical. Invitations for teams to attend the 2018 NWBT will be shared on February 28 - March 2 for Adult Divisions (Division I, Division II and Division III) and on March 8-9 for Junior Divisions (Varsity, Prep and JNIT).

NWBT Invites for the Adult Division Top 16 Teams Sent Out (Feb. 28)

The invitations to the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament will be sent out to the top 16 teams in Adult Divisions I, II and III that registered for the NWBT on Wednesday, February 28. Teams will have until Friday, March 2 to accept the invitation and reserve their spot in the tournament.

 

37th Annual Carousel House Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Mar. 2-4)

The Carousel House Recreation Center will host the 37th Annual Carousel House Wheelchair Basketball Tournament from March 2-4, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Carousel House, located at 4300 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the High School of the Future, located at 4021 Parkside Ave, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The New York Rollin’ Knicks of Floral Park, NY and MedStar NRH Punishers of Washington D.C. will represent Adult Division I during the tournament.

The following six Adult Division II teams will be featured in the tournament: Charlottesville Cardinals – DII of Charlottesville, VA; Delaware Destroyers of Wilmington, DE; Magee Spokesmen of Philadelphia, PA; Nassau Kings of Elmont, NY; NMSCD Wolfpack of San Diego, CA and Sportable Rim Riders – DII of Richmond, VA.

The tournament will also feature the following three Adult Division III teams: Connecticut Spokebenders of Meriden, CT, New England Blazers of Saugus, MA and WC Brooklyn Nets of Brooklyn, NY.

The final two teams that will be featured in the tournament are the Chapter 126 CT Rolling Sun of Bristol, CT for the Women’s Division and the Ryan Martin Foundation Trojans of Simsbury, CT for the Junior Varsity Division.

2018 National Wheelcats Invitational (Mar. 3-4)

The National Wheelcats will host the 2018 National Wheelcats Invitational from March 3-4, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Vanderbilt University Recreation and Wellness Center, located at 2700 Childrens Way, Nashville, TN.

The tournament will feature the following eight Adult Division II teams: Miami Valley Raptors of Xenia, OH; Fort Lauderdale Sharks of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Lakeshore Storm of Birmingham, AL; Wisconsin Thunder of Whitewater, WI; Tampa Bay Strong Dogs of Tampa, FL; Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets – A of Cornelius, NC; San Antonio ParaSport Spurs of Round Rock, TX and the Music City Lightning of Franklin, TN.

The two Adult Division III teams that will play in the tournament are the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets – B of Cornelius, NC and the Louisville Spokes and Spires of Louisville, KY.

STRAPS Junior Wheelchair Basketball Conference Championships (Mar. 3-4)

The Morgan's Wonderland - STRAPS will host the STRAPS Junior Wheelchair Basketball Conference Championships from March 3-4, 2018. The tournament will take place at Morgan's Wonderland, located at 5223 David Edwards Dr. San Antonio, TX.

The tournament will feature the following three Junior Prep Division teams: STRAPS STARS of San Antonio, TX, Dallas Junior Wheelchair Mavericks – Prep of Dallas, TX and OKC Wheels of Thunder – Prep of Oklahoma City, OK.

The following four Junior Varsity Division teams will also be featured in the tournament: TIRR Memorial Hermann Houston Junior Hotwheels of Houston, TX, Dallas Junior Wheelchair Basketball Mavericks – Blue of Dallas, TX, OKC Wheels of Thunder – Varsity of Oklahoma City, OK and the Tulsa Jammers of Tulsa, OK.

This will be a double-elimination bracket tournament. The venue, Morgan’s Wonderland, is the first and only ultra-accessibly theme park in the world.

2018 Junior SEC Championships (Mar. 3-4)

The Lakeshore Foundation will host the 2018 Junior SEC Championships from March 3-4, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Lakeshore Foundation, located at 4000 Ridgeway Dr., Birmingham, AL.

Five Junior Prep Division teams will play in a round robin style tournament followed by placement games. The Junior Varsity Division pool, consisting of six teams, will begin with pool play followed by crossover and placement games.

The five Junior Prep Division teams playing in the tournament are the BlazeSports Jr. Hawks - Prep of Norcross, GA; Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets - Purple of Matthews, NC; Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets - Teal of Matthews, NC; Lakeshore Sharks of Birmingham, AL and Roger C. Peace Rollin’ Tigers of Greenville, SC.

The following six Junior Varsity Division teams will also be featured in the tournament: BlazeSports Jr. Hawks - Varsity of Norcross, GA; Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets – Varsity of Matthews, NC; Lakeshore Lakers of Birmingham, AL; Mississippi WheelCats of Clinton, MS; Music City Thunder of Franklin, TN and the UAH Chargers of Huntsville, AL.

West Coast Conference Championship Tournament (Mar. 3-4)

The Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program will host the West Coast Conference Championship Tournament from March 3-4, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Arillaga Recreation Center, located at 341 Galvez St., Stanford, CA.

The championship tournament will feature the following nine Junior Varsity Division teams: ParaSport Spokane - Varsity of Spokane, WA; Seattle Jr. Sonics of Seattle, WA; Portland Jr. Wheelblazers of Beaverton, OR; Sacramento Jr. Royals of Sacramento, CA; BORP Jr. Road Warriors of San Lorenzo, CA; Rancho Renegades of Downey, CA; Utah Rush of Henefer, UT; Denver Jr. Rollin' Nuggets of Longmont, CO and the San Diego Hammer of San Diego, CA.
