National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Mar. 15-17)

The 2018 NIWBT was at the Recreation/Athletic Facility and Physical Education Facility of Southwest Minnesota State University. The 2018 NIWBT started on Thursday, March 15 and concluded with the championships on Saturday, March 17.

The University of Alabama Men and the University of Texas-Arlington Women won their respective National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament titles. The University of Alabama overcame two double-digit deficits, to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 69-65. Alabama, last won the national title in 2013, and was in its third title game Saturday.

The Lady Movin’ Mavs, who have been in the championship game for the last three years, returned to the winner’s circle, led by three U.S. Paralympic gold medalists. Rose Hollerman of Elysian, Minnesota, and Abbie Dunkin of New Braunfels, Texas, who combined for 44 points.

Las Vegas YUCCAS DII and DIII at Minker (Mar. 17-18)

The City of Las Vegas and Paralympic Sports Club of Las Vegas hosted the Las Vegas YUCCAS DII and DIII at Minker tournament from March 17-18, 2018. The tournament took place at the Minker Sports Complex, located at 275 Mojave Rd, Las Vegas NV. This was the last of the Las Vegas tournaments for the year.

The NMCSD Wolf Pack of San Diego, CA dominated the tournament, finishing with a 4-0 record and winning by an average margin of 20 points per game. The PossAbilities Rolling Bears of Lake Elsinore, CA and Las Vegas Yuccas of Las Vegas, NV both ended the tournament with a 2-2 record and tied for second place.

Tournament of Champions (Mar. 17-18)

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association hosted the Tournament of Champions from March 17-18, 2018. The tournament took place at the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association, located at 1900 Heather Glen Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451.

Due to last minute cancellations by many of the teams, the tournament featured two Junior Varsity Division teams: The LWSRA Hawks of New Lenox, IL and Rockford Jr. Chariots of Rockford, IL.

The Sunday Junior Prep Division tournament was cancelled due to teams dropping out.
