COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Event Sanction Application is now available for those interested in hosting an NWBA sanctioned event for the 2019 / 2020 NWBA season. By sanctioning an NWBA event (e.g. single game, tournament, clinic or fundraiser), our goal is to collaborate with you to ensure your event:

  • Has SafeSport certified individuals for the security of our members
  • Has insurance coverage, which supports participants in case of injury
  • Counts towards post-season rankings (if the event includes games)
    • Teams must be registered with the NWBA
    • Athletes must be registered with the NWBA
    • We want your games to count
  • Is communicated to our Membership
  • Has scores published online after the event

As discussed at the Annual Assembly on August 3, the Board of Directors has reduced the fee that was announced last year by 50%. The 2019 / 2020 event sanction fee is $25 per event application. This reduced fee will offset a portion of the costs associated with providing Membership insurance coverage, while the NWBA will still absorb a majority of the costs. Insurance costs for the Association were increased by 25% this season. Our goal is to be as thoughtful as possible in balancing costs for Membership, although we must continually monitor costs for the NWBA as a Business, as well.

The event host will be provided an Event Resource Guide. The Event Resource Guide will include information on executing event operations, training materials for table officials, NWBA scorebook and a communication plan for an event. The NWBA is continually working to update and provide new reference materials available in the Event Resource Guide. The NWBA is excited to provide an updated 2019 / 2020 NWBA Scorebook for NWBA registered teams and NWBA event sanction holders.

Make sure to check the NWBA Calendar for upcoming NWBA sanctioned events by clicking here. By sanctioning your NWBA events, you will ensure that it will be promoted and marketed on the NWBA website and social media channels.

The NWBA Policies and Procedures (Section 12: Sanctioned Events) outline the policies to ensure compliance for events for the 2019-20 NWBA season:

Tournament designation is included in the Event Sanctioning Application. Hosts can request whether the event is in consideration to be designated as a NWBA Classification Event, Junior Division Regional Qualifying Tournament, or NWBA Conference Tournament. Each of the tournament designations will be reviewed and approved by the necessary NWBA leadership committee.
