Ability360 & Phoenix will Host 2020 Toyota Nationals for Women’s Division

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association Board of Directors is excited to announce the dates and location for the Women’s Division event for the 2020 Toyota National Championship Series. The National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament will be held on March 27-29 in Phoenix, Arizona. Competition will start on the morning of Friday, March 27 and conclude with the championship game on Sunday, March 29.

The event will be hosted at
Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center for Persons with Disabilities. Ability360 is a 45,000-square-foot universally-designed (accessible) facility that includes two basketball courts. Ability360 has hosted a number of NWBA sanctioned events and various other events for adaptive sports at a local, regional and national levels. Ability360 has a strong commitment to making the National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament a success for the players, spectators, sponsors and the community.

Nick Pryor, Local Organizing Committee Tournament Director & Ability360 Program Coordinator, expressed his excitement to host a national tournament for the NWBA, “We are extremely honored and thrilled for the opportunity to host the 2020 Toyota Women’s National Tournament in Phoenix.” Pryor continued to state, “I’ve had the privilege of directing our wheelchair basketball tournaments for a few years now and it has always been a goal of ours to host a national tournament, and now we have that opportunity with the NWBA Women’s Division. At Ability360 we strive to facilitate not just great tournaments, but an overall great experience for everyone involved.”

Darlene Hunter, Chair of the Women’s Division, shared her pleasure of awarding the bid to Ability360 and The City of Phoenix, “We are really excited to go back to Phoenix. Ability360 always does a great job of hosting wheelchair basketball events for various NWBA Divisions, and Phoenix has a lot to offer, including great weather in March. We appreciate the Ability360 Team hosting our National Tournament and look forward to working on it with them to give our Women’s Division and fans another great experience!”

The Ability360 facility opened in October of 2011. Ability360 facility amenities also include a rock climbing wall, indoor track, aquatic center, therapy pool and spa, accessible locker and dressing rooms and showers, and a spacious fitness center with accessible equipment and group fitness room. Ability360 was designed to empower people with disabilities to take personal responsibility so that they may achieve or continue independent lifestyles within the community. It provides exceptional adaptive sports, recreation, aquatic, and fitness programs that promote the independence, health, and overall well-being of people with disabilities and their family members.

The Valley Metro Rail will provide more accessible transportation options for tournament participants and spectators. The rail will allow those traveling to Phoenix for the event to choose an airport and/or hotel on the rail line. The LOC will provide preferred or host hotel accommodations, along with other key information that the NWBA will develop into a Fact Sheet. All updates will be published on the NWBA website at
