More than a collection of teams; more than thousands of players, coaches, officials, and classifiers; more than an office in Colorado; the NWBA is family. We are a family that truly cares about each other no matter whether we are on the same team or opposite sides of the court.

A big brother to many of us, Frank Burns took ill last week and we would like to provide an update to his condition and a path to staying informed on his recovery.

He is currently in the hospital awaiting surgery to repair complications from a heart attack. His brother Peter has informed us that, "He had an okay day today. They are waiting for his heart to get stronger."

For those of us who know Frank, that just sounds wrong because we know that Frank has one of the biggest hearts in the game.

From his introduction to wheelchair basketball in 1974, Frank has never stopped pushing the game as a coach, administrator, and friend. The number of programs and athletes he’s influenced is vast, from grassroots level to Paralympic Teams.

For the few who don't know Frank, you've probably heard him. Frank has only one style: PASSIONATE. You've heard him cheering at your NWBT games or calling you over to the tables at Nationals to proudly show off historic NWBA memorabilia and teach you about the long history of the game.

Not only the biggest advocate of the NWBA Hall of Fame, he is a member and you can read about his contributions to the game here: https://www.nwba.org/news_article/show/540603

Now it is our time to be loud in support of Frank and his family as we all wish for a quick and complete return to health.

Come on Frank. You got this.

His family has created a page where updates will be posted at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/frankburns4
