The NWBA Hall of Fame adds two new members

The 2020 NWBA Hall of Fame class has been announced by the NWBA Hall of Fame Committee. The 2020 class is comprised of 2 inductees, and both of these members have left a lasting impact on our game. This year’s inductees include:

Jeff Glasbrenner

Jeff "Glas" Glasbrenner's 63 points in the 2004 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship game will be remembered as the greatest single game performance in the NWBA History. Since getting involved in the sport, Glas' work ethic, drive, skill level and competitive spirit were the definition of elite. Jeff Glasbrenner has achieved great success on every team in which he has played.

He won a National Championship at UW-Whitewater and 4 Division I National Championships. Glas also won a championship when he played professionally in Europe. Glas has represented the Team USA on numerous National Teams. During his time on the US team, he won 2 World Championship Gold Medals (1998, 2002).

As a competitor, Glas was been the epitome of success winning on every level, and his induction into the NWBA Hall of Fame is well deserved.

Bill Greene

Bill Greene has been a trailblazer for many years in the NWBA. He has had a positive impact on many youth with disabilities in the D.C. area and beyond since the early 70’s. Greene has served in numerous capacities throughout his career (e.g. athlete, coach, mentor, father figure, conference representative, organizer, etc). Greene has been willing to do whatever the sport or his athletes needed from him. Greene has provided countless athletes with disabilities an opportunity compete and develop. He instilled many qualities into those athletes: independence, confidence, courage, accountability, discipline, sacrifice and sportsmanship.

Greene is one of the game’s true pioneers and has been an outstanding contributor to the sport of wheelchair basketball. Bill helped many people with disabilities realize their potential on and off the court through this sport.

The 2020 NWBA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 14 at the Wichita Marriott. Doors open at 6:30 and the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. Interim NWBA Hall of Fame Chairman, Melvin Juette, will oversee the celebration.

The Hall of Fame inductions will be held in conjunction with the 2020 NWBA Toyota Adult and Junior Division Wheelchair Basketball National Championship, and this year celebrates the 71st season of this great sport.
