UPDATED: NWBA Announces the 2021 NWBA Toyota National Championship Series

Updated on Nov. 16th to reflect new change in dates to nationals

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association Board of Directors is excited to announce the revised dates for all events of the 2021 NWBA Toyota National Championship Series. Responding to membership feedback (in form of survey), input from divisional leadership and key stakeholders the NWBA has made accommodations to adjust the dates of these events. NWBA leadership is excited to create this flexibility in hosting these events to allow more of an opportunity for members to participate and attend.

The top 16 ranked teams for each Adult Division (I, II, III) will earn an invite to their respective divisions’ national tournament. A total of 48 teams from the three Adult Divisions will battle it out for a coveted national title during this event.

The top 16 ranked teams for Varsity level of play in the Junior Division will earn an invite to compete in the National Varsity Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, based on their performance throughout the season. Varsity teams ranked 17-32 will receive an invite to participate in the National Varsity Invitational Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. The top 16 ranked teams from Prep earn an invitation to participate in the National Prep Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. 

The national tournaments for the Women’s Division and Intercollegiate Division (Women’s and Men’s) include all teams within the division that meet eligibility requirements as outlined by their division guidelines.

The Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) and NWBA will work to develop and publish detailed fact sheets for these events in a timely fashion to allow potential attendees and teams to plan accordingly. All updates will be published on the NWBA website at www.nwba.org and distributed to NWBA registered members.

The NWBA expresses deep gratitude to American Collegiate Society for Adapted Athletics, Visit Wichita and Ability360 for continued hard work as they serve as the local organizing committee for an event within the series. The NWBA is looking forward to the great hospitality provide to NWBA members and fans by host communities and organizations throughout the series.
