COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - The National Wheelchair Basketball Association and Toyota are excited to announce the launch of the 2021-22 Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award. The Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award begins this November, with nominations due no later than Thursday, December 2nd at 12:00 p.m. Mountain time.

The purpose of this program is to give recognition to NWBA teams across all divisions. Selection criteria includes the team’s record, statistics, accomplishments, and non-performance related criteria such as community service and team improvement. The Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award will be awarded each month from November to March. The monthly winner will receive a “Toyota NWBA Team of the Month” plaque and recognition on NWBA media platforms and at Toyota National Championships Series events. All nominees will receive a certificate for their participation in the program. 

Nomination Process

Nominations are due the first Thursday of each month for the prior month’s award no later than 12:00pm Mountain time. For example, November’s nominations are due Thursday, December 2nd. Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award nominations are open to the public and submitted via the Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award Form found at http://www.nwba.org/teamofmonth.  

Deadlines for nominations:

December 2 - Nominees for November

January 6 - Nominees for December

February 3 - Nominees for January

March 3 - Nominees for February

April 7 - Nominees for March

Voting Process

Five nominees will be selected for voting purposes and voting will be conducted on the NWBA website at http://www.nwba.org/teamofmonth. The NWBA will post a story on the NWBA website and social networks  announcing selected nominees to promote the week-long voting period. Individuals are encouraged to promote the Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award page to their peers and across their social channels. Voting is open to the public. When sharing Toyota NWBA Team of the Month content, please tag @TeamToyota, @NWBA and include the hashtag #Toyota.

Each person can only vote once per day. The voting period will open at 5:00 p.m. Mountain time on the first Thursday of each month (nomination deadline) and close the following Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Mountain time. At the close of the voting period, the votes are counted and a winner is selected. The Toyota NWBA Team of the Month Award winner will be announced on the NWBA social media channels / website.
