Important Message Prior to Open Forum & New Meeting Information

Dear Members:

The NWBA would like to issue some guidance and insight on our plans for this evening’s Open Forum, and our intentions for how to manage the meeting. First of all, the purpose of this session is for the organization to hear from membership and / or other interested parties. We also want to share as much information as possible in response to the statements and questions that you might have. We view this as a starting point to the conversation, and our efforts to ensure we are building a foundation of trust for all stakeholders.

In order to accommodate as many members as possible to participate, we have changed the meeting to a Zoom format. Please use the following link to enter the meeting:

It is not until such time that we have this trust that we will be able to do the one thing we all agree is a priority, and that is to fulfill the mission of the NWBA. For some of you, that means playing the game you love, while for others it means helping people play it who want to do so. For NWBA Leadership, that means making the game stronger for those already in it, while making it more accessible to many others who do not yet participate.

We would like to thank Eve Hampton for offering her thoughts on how to make this session as productive as possible.

Agenda:

  • Opening remarks from the NWBA
  • Q&A with membership
  • Closing remarks and next steps

We have also outlined some ground rules for the session:

Safety – No member of the NWBA will be penalized for speaking their mind and raising concerns. Without people using their voice, we have no ability to address issues. We also have a Whistleblower policy that prohibits retaliation

Respect – The only way for us to productively move forward is by all giving and receiving feedback in a civil manner

Courtesy – Many people have things they would like to share, so we ask people to allow for others to have an equal opportunity to express themselves in the Chat

Communication – We have aligned on Chat as the method of putting forward questions. This is expressly to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to voice the comments, questions, or concerns

We expect this session to be the start of even more transparent and open two-way dialogue between the leadership of the NWBA and Membership. We do not expect every question to be answered, but we do commit to follow-up in a timely fashion with additional feedback opportunities and responses to questions.

If you choose not to attend, this meeting will be recorded and posted online. Additionally, if you feel uneasy voicing your concerns in a public forum, you should always feel free to reach out to a member of NWBA Board / Leadership with any concerns that you might have.
