2022 Toyota USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Rocky Mountain Showdown Announced

COLORADO SRINGS, CO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is excited to announce the 2022 Toyota USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Rocky Mountain Showdown which will feature the Toyota Team USA Women’s National Team playing six exhibition games against Wheelchair Basketball Canada Women’s National Team. The Rocky Mountain Showdown will be held at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. The Rocky Mountain Showdown will showcase two games a day from Thursday, May 19, to Saturday, May 21. The tip-off times for the games each day will be 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.* Mountain time. *Updated to 6 p.m.; previously was scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

The participating athletes for 2022 Toyota Team USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will include 12 of the remaining 16 athletes in the current pool for consideration for selection to the final roster. The pool of 16 athletes were selected at the conclusion of the recently held 2022 Toyota Team USA Women’s Selection Camp in April. The pool of 16 athletes includes 10 members of the bronze medal winning roster for the U.S. Women’s squad from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

The 2022 Toyota USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Rocky Mountain Showdown will serve as competitive training opportunity for Team USA for the 2022 America's Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 9-19, 2022. The 2022 America's Cup, hosted by IWBF Americas, will serve as the qualifier for the 2022 IWBF World Championships taking place November 16-27, 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For the women's division of 2022 America's Cup there will be eight teams competing for one of the three team spots available for the IWBF World Championships.

Head Coach Christina Schwab will lead Team USA into action, assisted on the bench by Desiree Miller, Ryan Hynes and Eve HamptonNikki Campbell serves as the Team Leader, with Jennifer Kingsby filling the athletic trainer position.
