LAKESHORE FOUNDATION TO HOST 2023 WOMEN'S & MILITARY DIVISION NATIONALS - EVENTS TO BE HOSTED ARE PART OF THE 2023 NWBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and Lakeshore Foundation are excited to announce the dates and location for the Women’s and Military Division portions of the 2023 NWBA National Championship Series. The following NWBA national tournaments will be hosted at Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama:

Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23, 2023:
•    NWBA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Championships
•    NWBA Military Wheelchair Basketball National Championships

“We are very pleased to have Lakeshore Foundation serving as the local organizing committee (LOC) and host site for these two national tournaments. We are extremely excited for this event being our first opportunity to host a national level event for our Military Division”, shares Matt Pierre, NWBA Board of Directors member and National Tournaments Evaluation Team member.

Lakeshore Foundation is an international leader combining expertise in physical activity, advocacy, and research to provide opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities and to live active, healthy lives. "The Women’s Division is pleased to have Lakeshore as the host for Women's Nationals in 2023. Lakeshore was selected as the host due to their history of proving quality tournaments for teams in the NWBA and their ability to accommodate the timing of Nationals at the request of members in our division. We look forward a great turnout and another exciting Women’s Nationals," shared Jenn Poist President of the NWBA Women's Division Executive Committee.

Lakeshore has experience in hosting large scale wheelchair basketball competitions on annual basis including the Pioneer Classic, a multi-division event host annually in January, and regularly being the host site for the Junior Division Southeastern Conference Championships.

"We are honored to be chosen to host the 2023 NWBA Women’s and Military Wheelchair Basketball National Championships. Each year we host a variety of national and international competitions, and we are excited to welcome the NWBA teams,” said Lauren Perry, LOC Tournament director and Recreation and Athletics Coordinator for Lakeshore.

The Local Organizing Committee and NWBA will work to develop and publish detailed information for the newly awarded events in a timely fashion to allow potential attendees and teams to plan accordingly. All updates will be published on the event webpage at www.nwba.org/nationals and distributed to NWBA registered teams.
