2023 NWBA Women's Division Postseason Requirements and Timeline

Attend (1) Tournament w/Women's Division teams present or FOUR game minimum

Colorado Springs, CO – The NWBA Women’s Division Executive Committee has announced the timeline and minimum game requirements for the qualification process for the 2023 NWBA Toyota National Championship Series for the Women’s Division. The Women’s Division portions of the 2023 NWBA National Championship Series will be held Friday, April 21, to Sunday, April 23, 2023 in Birmingham, AL, and was announced HERE.

 


Women's Division Postseason Timeline

POSTSEASON TIMELINE FOR WOMEN’S DIVISION

December 15: Team Registration Deadline (team must registered to be eligible for postseason play); including dues paid in full

  • Exemption to Section 3: Annual Dues in the Women’s Division Guidelines which state “NWBA dues and late fees must be paid prior to Oct. 31st”

December 31: Individual Registration / Roster Deadline

  • Per Section 4: Team Roster (a) in the Women’s Division Guidelines
  • Includes Player Transfers that can be submitted until December 31
  • Includes no addition of veteran players to roster after December 31

February 1: Post Season Applications are OPEN

February 20: Post Season Applications are DUE

April 9: Last Day Games are Considered for Seeding

April 11: Seedings are Announced


Women's Division Postseason Requirements

Per the Women’s Guidelines, Article V. National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, Section 1 – Eligibility.

To be eligible to compete at the national tournament for the Women’s Division teams must:

  1. Play in one (1) tournament with other Women’s Division teams

    OR

     
  2. Play a minimum of FOUR  (4) games against any NWBA registered teams.

NOTE: Games versus any NWBA team (including Junior and Military Division teams) count towards the minimum game requirements for any Women’s Division team.


Tournament Structure

Per the Women’s Guidelines, Article V. National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, Section 2 – Structure.

The tournament structures will be used when the following number of teams are entered:

  1. 8 or fewer teams:
    1. seeded round robin - double split tournament 
    2. (Pool play with cross over games)
       
  2. 9-15 teams:
    1. seeded double-elimination tournament 
       
  3. 16 or more:
    1. regional playoffs resulting with a final four

All team rankings used for tournament structure will be seeded according to the results of the preceding National Tournament.  A new team which did not participate in the previous National Tournament will be ranked last.  If there is more than one new team, which did not participate in the NWWBT their rank will be assigned by the Women’s Executive Committee based on their season record and added to the bottom of the rankings.
