COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. — The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is now accepting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to host and serve as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for events that are part of the NWBA National Championship Series for 2027 and beyond. Bids must include an option to renew for at least one (1) additional year; proposals offering renewal terms beyond two years will be viewed more favorably.

The NWBA National Championship Series represents the pinnacle of domestic wheelchair basketball competition, showcasing top athletes and teams from across the United States in Adult, Junior, Women’s, Military, and Intercollegiate divisions.

Events may be bid individually, though preference will be given to bids that propose hosting multiple divisions together. Prospective hosts are required to provide a minimum of four courts for the Women’s, Military, and Intercollegiate divisions, and a minimum of eight courts for the Adult and Junior divisions. All competitions require hardwood courts. The NWBA does not own their own courts so preference is given to those facilities with hardwood courts already in place or that can be easily added to the facility.

Expected Event Scale

  • Adult Divisions (I, II, III): 48 teams per event | ~600 athletes | ~600 spectators
  • Junior Divisions (Varsity, JV, Prep): 48 teams per event | ~700 athletes | ~1,000 spectators
  • Women’s Division: 16 teams | ~200 athletes | ~400 spectators
  • Military Division: 8 teams | ~100 athletes | ~100 spectators
  • Intercollegiate Divisions: 18 teams combined | ~225 athletes | ~900 spectators

Host communities are expected to provide approximately 480 hotel rooms per tournament, collaborate with the NWBA on local sponsorship and partnership opportunities, and secure venues at no cost to the NWBA.

Proposal Deadline

Submissions are due by December 20, 2025, for events beginning in 2027 and beyond.
