2026 Timothy J. Nugent Academic All-American and Academic Achievers Applications Now Available
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and the Junior Division Executive Committee are proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Timothy J. Nugent High School Academic All-America Teams and the 2026 Timothy J. Nugent Academic Achievers Program. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday, February 20.
The Timothy J. Nugent High School Academic All-America Team recognizes student-athletes in grades 10-12, while the Academic Achievers Program honors academic excellence for student-athletes currently enrolled in grades 5-9.
All award recipients will be announced at the 2026 NWBA Junior Division Annual Ceremony & Dance at the 2026 Junior Division Wheelchair National Championship.
About the Awards
These academic recognitions are dedicated to the memory of Dr. Timothy J. Nugent, the NWBA’s founder and visionary leader. Dr. Nugent had the courage and foresight to establish the NWBA to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities. While he valued competition, Dr. Nugent believed that education is the most powerful tool to improve one’s place in society. The Junior Division continues to honor his legacy by encouraging the next generation of leaders to embrace the power of education.
