Pam Fox attended Texas Tech University from 1970-1974 where she lettered in both track and basketball. With her playing career over she became a physical education teacher, coach and basketball official. It is her pioneering efforts in wheelchair basketball officiating and subsequent officials education and certification standards that she is being honored.

Pam began officiating wheelchair basketball in 1979. She credits wheelchair basketball official Don Drury and NWBA Hall of Fame wheelchair basketball player Tom Brown as her mentors for getting her involved in wheelchair basketball. Legend has it that Don gave her a 5-minute crash course on the rules of wheelchair basketball. She ran up and down the court, blew her whistle once, and the rest is history.

Pam has officiated the NWBA Women’s Finals, the NWBA Junior Division Finals, the Intercollegiate Division Finals, Men’s Division II National Championships and the Men’s D1 National Wheelchair Basketball Finals. Pam Fox is not only one of the first female officials in wheelchair basketball but also the only NWBA certified official to call all the levels of NWBA Championships. She further serves as the head basketball official for PVA Wheelchair Games and has officiated the Wheelchair Basketball Game at the NBA All Star Game Jam Fest in Dallas and Houston.

Pam has officiated wheelchair basketball for 35 years. She has served as member of the NWBA Rules Committee as well as provided guidelines for the education and certification process of NWBA officials. She was an active basketball official and a member of the Southwest Basketball Officials Association (now TASO-UIL) for over 33 years where she has served on the Ethics Committee for the Dallas Chapter. She continues to teach Phys Ed, Science, and Information Technology in Texas.
