Team History: Coach Twin Cities Rolling Gophers

NWBA Service: Conference Commissioner North Central Conference

Sports Biography:

Jim came into our game as a successful businessman from the North Central Region of Minnesota. After being employed by several organizations for people with various disabilities, Jim turned his focus on organizing and fund raising for many of the teams in the North Central area. He was Head Coach of the Twin City Gophers Team in the early 1970’s. The Gophers were one of the oldest teams’ in the NWBA and under his leadership on and off the court was able to organize one of the early NWBA Women’s Teams in the association. He not only served as “Coach” but Director of Camping and Recreation at the “Courage Center” which has been the home to several wheelchair basketball Teams. He served as Conference Commissioner for the newly formed North Central Conference which had fourteen team’s functioning all as a result of Jim’s hard work and dedication to our game.

He also served on the NWBA Rules Committee and was responsible for overseeing the Officials Test which is still being given to all Officials in the NWBA.
