We are looking forward to the start of the 2016-17 NWBA Season. The Board just recently completed its July Board of Directors meeting where several exciting additions have been made for the overall improvement of the game, especially for players and teams.

The 2016-17 Team Registration will open on Monday, August 1 at 2 p.m. Mountain, and close on August 31 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain. The individual registration will commence on September 6, and more information will be forthcoming. The registration fee for the 2016-17 NWBA Season will be maintained at $375 per team.

The 2016-17 season will feature three Adult Divisions, in order to provide more competitive opportunities, and provide a progressive level of competition for community based wheelchair basketball teams. The Championship Division has been renamed Division I. We have added Division II as a pilot program for the season that will include a National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, March 30-April 2, 2017. We will also maintain Division III.

Division I - allows for the elite level individuals and teams to play at the highest level of competition. Division II - allows the experienced and more developed players and teams to play mid-level competition. Division III - allows new players and lesser developed teams the ability to play at a developmental or recreational level.

As the season progresses, we will be working and monitoring with the Divisional Leaders in the management of the three Adult Divisions to objectively evaluate the pilot program of Division II.

There are no significant changes to the Junior Division, Women’s Division, or Collegiate Division that effect Team Registration.

The registration process will be similar to last year, and should be easier as your user information from last season will be pre-populated so you can review and edit any changes. We thank you for your participation and look forward to another successful season.
