The NWBA Adult Division Executive Committee has announced the 2016-17 NWBA February Rankings for Division I, II and III.
The New York Rollin' Knicks move into the No. 1 ranked team in Division I with a record of 9-2. The Knicks competed at the 2017 Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks Tournament with their full roster.
The defensively stout Knicks held their opponents to less than 50 points per game for the tournament. The Knicks were led on offense by U.S. Paralympic gold medalist Steve Serio of Westbury, New York, who averaged 17 points per game and Canadian Paralympic gold medalists David Eng with 15 points per game and Patrick Anderson with 13 points per game.
The weekend highlight was the Knicks' commanding 68-44 win over Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks. The Mavs have been the No. 1 ranked team throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
The Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks slide to the number two spot in Division I Rankings after their first loss of the season to the New York Rollin' Knicks. The Mavericks 16-1 record includes nine wins versus Division I Top 20 teams.
The Rogue Valley Scorpions (15-1) had an impressive 5-0 showing at the WFFS Brad Rich Invitational to vault to the No. 3 position. Rounding out the top five in the Division I Rankings are the Wheelchair Bucks "A" at No. 4 and Sacramento Rollin' Kings at No. 5.
The No. 13 Denver Rolling Nuggets and the No. 15 Missouri Predators are the two new teams to the top 20 rankings for Division I.
The NWBA Adult Division March Rankings will be used in determining the invites for the 2017 National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament presented by ABC Medical, set for Louisville, Kentucky, March 30-April 2. The top 16 ranked teams in each division of play will receive an invite to the 2017 NWBT from March 1 to March 3. For teams who do not accept an invite, the NWBA Adult Division Executive Committee will extend an invite to the next highest ranked team. All interested teams interested in attending the 2017 NWBT must complete an entry for the Team Registration session. Click here to complete an entry for the Team Registration for the 2017 NWBT.
The 2017 NWBT will feature a total of 48 teams from the NWBA Adult Division and 48 teams from the NWBA Junior Division. For more information on the 2017 NWBT visit www.nwba.org/2017nwbt.
