COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The Youth for Kansas City (Y4KC) will host the National Wheelchair Basketball Association’s (NWBA) Victory Tour October 13-14, in Kansas City. The Y4KC is a community service organization comprised of young adults, ages 14 to 22, from the Kansas City Metro area and are using the NWBA Victory Tour as their first event.

The Victory Tour highlights the historic U.S. Men’s and Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Gold Medalists of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. This is the first time that Team USA has won both the men’s and women’s team gold medals since the Seoul 1988 Paralympics.

The Victory Tour includes two main events. On Friday, October 13, 2017 at 7:00 pm the University of Missouri-Kansas City will host an exhibition wheelchair basketball game at the Swinney Recreation Center located at 5030 Holmes Street

On Saturday, October 14, 2017 the College Basketball Experience will host the NWBA Victory Tour gala dinner and silent auction. Speakers include two-time Paralympic medalist and co-captain Steve Serio. Serio, a member of Team USA since 2006, who also won the 2017 ESPN Espy Award for his performances in Rio last summer. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the exhibition game are $10 while the tickets for the gala dinner at $125 and can be purchased online at www.nwba.org.

The Y4KC is excited to bring the NWBA Victory Tour to Kansas City to raise awareness for the sport and encourage growth of wheelchair basketball in the community. All proceeds from these two events benefit the NWBA and Midwest Adaptive Sports.

Y4KC is mentored by NWBA Board of Directors’ President, Sarah Castle. She is a four-time U.S. Paralympian and wheelchair basketball gold medalist in 2008, and is also an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Diversion Manager for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office. Castle also earned her jurist degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
