The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) offered several sanctioned events this past week in Colorado, Nevada, Texas and Wisconsin.
U.S. Men’s National Team Selection Camp (Jan. 2-7)
The NWBA hosted the U.S. Men’s National Team Selection Camp from January 2-7, 2018 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Throughout the camp, 28 of our nation’s top wheelchair basketball players competed in scrimmages and ran a multitude of drills to earn a spot on the 2018 U.S. Men’s team and meet again in May for the final selection of the 12-man roster for the 2018 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships.
The 2018 U.S. Team sees the return of 10 out of the 12 athletes from the 2016 Paralympic Games gold-medal team.

NWBA Midwest Junior Invitational Tournament (Jan. 6-7)
The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater hosted an NWBA Junior Division Regional Qualifying Tournament last weekend. The tournament was help in the Williams Center at 907 W. Schwager Drive, Whitewater, Wisconsin in the DLK Fieldhouse. The tournament featured Varsity, Varsity 2, and Junior Prep Division teams.
The WASA Bucks of Milwaukee, WI won the Varsity Division tournament, winning every game that they played. In the Varsity 2 tournament, the Synergy Bulls of Carol Stream, IL won, beating out the Cincinnati Dragons of Covington, OH in the championship game. The Minnesota Rolling Rowdies of Minneapolis, MN won the championship in the Junior Prep Division tournament, beating every team in their division.

Rocky Mountain Invitational (Jan. 6-7)
Colorado Wheelchair Basketball and the Denver Rolling Nuggets hosted an Adult Division I tournament last weekend. The tournament was held at the Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Lakewood, CO at 150 South Harland Street.
Five teams competed in the round robin tournament, with the Missouri Predators of Kansas City, MI winning it all and ending the weekend with a record of 3-1. Their only loss came at the hand of the Denver Rolling Nuggets of Denver, CO.

Las Vegas YUCCAS DI Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Jan. 6-7)
The City of Las Vegas and the Paralympics Sports Club of Las Vegas hosted a two-day tournament last weekend. The tournament was held at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas campus at 4505 S Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV.
In a field of four teams, the University of Arizona Wildcats – DI of Tuscon, AZ won the tournament with a record of 4-0. They dominated the competition, winning by an average margin of 22 points throughout the tournament.

Corpus Christi RIMZ Bayfront Classic (Jan. 6-7)
The Corpus Christi RIMZ hosted the 1st Annual Bayfront Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament last weekend. The tournament was held in the Corpus Christi Natatorium located at 3202 Cabaniss Road, Corpus Christi, TX.
Four teams from the state of Texas competed in the tournament, with the Houston Hotwheels – DIII of Houston, TX ending the weekend in first place. They defeated the Harker Heights Hustlers of Harker Heights, TX in the championship game, which was a nail-biter with a final score of 47-45.
