This Week in the NWBA (Mar. 12-18)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to offer sanctioned events this week in Illinois, Nevada and Minnesota.

All events are open to the public. The NWBA asks that teams and spectators share their experience by posting their photos and tagging the NWBA. Use the hashtag #NWBA to be featured on our social media sites.

 

National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (Mar. 15-17)

The 2018 NIWBT will be played at the Recreation/Athletic Facility and Physical Education Facility of Southwest Minnesota State University. The 2018 NIWBT is starting on Thursday, March 15 and concluding with the championships on Saturday, March 17.

This tournament will feature the top college wheelchair basketball teams in the nation. To see which teams will be attending and the tournament’s bracket, click here.

 

Las Vegas YUCCAS DII and DIII at Minker (Mar. 17-18)

The City of Las Vegas and Paralympic Sports Club of Las Vegas will host the Las Vegas YUCCAS DII and DIII at Minker tournament from March 17-18, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Minker Sports Complex, located at 275 Mojave Rd, Las Vegas NV.

The tournament will feature the following three Adult Division II teams: NMCSD Wolf Pack of San Diego, CA, PossAbilities Rolling Bears of Lake Elsinore, CA and the Las Vegas Yuccas of Las Vegas, NV.

The Ability 360 Phoenix Wheelchair Suns of Phoenix, AZ and the RTI - Utah Wheelin' Wildcats of Ogden, UT will represent Adult Division III in the tournament.

Tournament of Champions (Mar. 17-18)

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association will host the Tournament of Champions from March 17-18, 2018. The tournament will take place at the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association, located at 1900 Heather Glen Drive, New Lenox, IL 60451.

Deadline for Bylaw Amendment Proposals (Mar. 18)

The deadline for Bylaw amendment proposals is to be received by the NWBA no later than Sunday, March 18 at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard time. To read more about the Bylaw Amendment Form and to download the form, click here.

Registration for NWBA Annual Congress Opens (Mar. 18)

The NWBA announced that it will hold the first NWBA Annual Congress at the Cheyenne Conference Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, June 14-17. All NWBA members have an opportunity to attend.

The Annual Congress was developed based on the feedback from members in the 2016-17 season survey. During the Congress, ample time has been scheduled for members to discuss key items within the respective Divisions. Divisional leaders will also have an opportunity to discuss their guidelines with the Board of Directors.
