Schedule Changes at the IWBF World Championships

The 2018 IWBF World Championships tipped-off today, with a few changes leading up to the Opening Ceremony. After announcing a wave of time changes the day prior, the IWBF released a press release Thursday morning stating two opening day games have been rescheduled, :

Due to an ongoing challenge with facilities, the two games scheduled for the evening on day one (Thursday 16th August) of the 2018 World Championships have had to be rearranged to other days during the tournament.

The two games scheduled for venue two on Thursday 16th August, Brazil women against Great Britain women at 18:00 will now be played on day three (Saturday 18th August) of the competition in venue one at 16:15. Whilst USA women versus France women will be moved to day six (Tuesday 21st August) at 16:15 in venue one. Purchased tickets will not be required for either game.

The required changes have meant that the tip-off of the two evening games on day three and day six will be pushed back 30 minutes.

DAY THREE – SATURDAY 18TH AUGUST 2018

Venue 1
16:15 – Pool A – BRA (W) v GBR (W)
18:30 – Pool A – GER (M) v IRI (M)
20:45 – Pool C – TUR (M) v JPN (M)

DAY SIX – TUESDAY 21ST AUGUST 2018

Venue 1
16:15 – Pool B – USA (W) v FRA (W)
18:30 – Pool A – CAN (W) v NED (W)
20:45 – CO 4  – 2B-3A

 

For Team USA, this means the men's and women's teams will not start tournament play until Friday, when the U.S. women take on Algeria at 11:30 AM Eastern time. The men begin preliminaries Saturday against Poland at 3:30 AM Eastern time.
