World Championships 2018

Athlete Selection Procedures

All athletes interested in trying out for the U.S. Women’s National Team, which will compete in the 2018 World Championship, must attend the Selection Camp.

The Women’s Selection Camp is January 14-18, 2018 at the Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Housing, meals and ground transportation once in Colorado Springs are provided by the NWBA.

To be eligible, athletes must:

· be a natural born citizen of the United States or in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen; and

· hold a valid U.S. passport that will not expire for six months after the conclusion of the Championships or obtain one prior to departure;

Players must be willing and able to attend mandatory training camps and a competition during the spring or summer of 2018 and the World Championships, August 16-26 in Hamburg, Germany.

All players must complete the online application to be considered and receive an invite to try-out.

·         The deadline to submit a NWBA High Performance Women’s Player Application is 11:59PM MST on November 22, 2017.

The U.S. Women’s Selection Camp list of invitees will be announced no later than December 1, 2017.

About U.S. Women’s National Team

The U.S. Women’s Team finished with a silver medal at the 2017 IWBF Women’s America’s Qualifier, and has qualified for the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, and 2019 ParaPan Am Games in Peru. The U.S. Women’s team has won the last three of four Paralympic Games (2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing, and 2016 Rio). At the Rio Paralympics, Team USA led six statistical categories over their seven-game stretch, and marks the third time that they have gone undefeated at the Paralympics.
