U.S. Women’s & Men’s Teams Attempt to Defend their Gold Medals at the 2019 ParaPan American Games

LIMA, PERU – The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Teams will compete in the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru, slated for competition August 23- 31. Both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s teams won gold at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

Both U.S. teams are looking to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games to defend their gold medals captured by the U.S. Women and Men at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. The U.S. Women’s team has to place in the top two teams and the U.S. Men’s team has to place in the top three teams at the Parapan American Games in order to qualify for Tokyo 2020.

The U.S. Men’s team will first play against Puerto Rico on Saturday, August 24 at 8:00 a.m. Central time. The U.S. Women’s team will play their first game against Chile also on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. Central time. The rest of Team USA's pool play games are scheduled as follows:

      - August 25th at 6:30 p.m.: USA Men vs. Peru

      - August 26th at 12:30 p.m.: USA Men vs. Brazil

      - August 26th at 4:15 p.m.: USA Women vs. Peru

      - August 27th at 10:15 a.m.: USA Women vs. Brazil
