Parapan American Games Roster Selected for 2023 USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. - The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and the High Performance Selection Committee have announced the final roster of the USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team for the 2023 Parapan American Games (PPAG). This selection was made at the conclusion of the 2023 USA Women’s Team Selection Camp hosted July 19-23 at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.  

The roster includes 10 athletes from the bronze medal winning U.S. Women’s team from the 2022 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships that was held in Dubai, United Emirates on July 9-20, 2023. The roster also includes nine athletes from the bronze medal winning U.S. Women’s team from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.    
 
The final roster will attend the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile on November 17-26. 
 
The most decorated member of the final roster is Natalie Schneider (Syracuse, Nebraska) who has been a member of Team USA since winning her first gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Fresh off earning bronze at the 2022 Worlds, Schneider looks to add another podium finish to her resume at the Parapan American Games after earning silver in 2019 and gold in 2011.  
 
Rose Hollermann (Elysian, Minnesota) joins Schneider on the final roster as another veteran presence on the team. Hollermann and Schneider played on the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Paralympic teams, winning gold at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and bronze at the most recent 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Hollermann helped Team USA take bronze at the 2022 World Championships, landing a spot on the All-Star Team. Hollermann was also a part of Parapan Games squads that won gold in 2015 and 2011, in addition to silver in 2019. 

Becca Murray (Germantown, Wisconsin) rejoins the U.S. Women’s National Team as one of the country’s most decorated players. A three-time Paralympian, Murray was a member of the 2008 and 2016 Paralympic squads that took gold in Beijing and Rio, respectively. One of the most recognizable players in the sport, Murray won gold at the 2007 and 2011 Parapan Games in addition to winning gold at the 2010 Worlds. She most recently helped Team USA take bronze at the 2022 World Championships.    

Courtney Ryan (Chula Vista, California) returns to the Team USA final roster after having been a member of the bronze medal winning U.S. Women’s team from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Coming off a stellar bronze medal performance at the 2022 World Championships that earned her a spot on the All-Star Team, Ryan looks to secure another podium finish at the Parapan Games after earning silver in 2019.  
 
Josie Aslakson (Jordan, Minnesota) earned a spot on the final roster after helping Team USA earn bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and most recently bronze at the 2022 World Championships. Aslakson seeks a second podium finish at the Parapan Games, having been a member of the 2019 Team USA squad that captured silver in 2019.  
   
Bailey Moody (Alpharetta, Georgia), and Lindsey Zurbrugg (Portland, Oregon) return to the roster after winning a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships. The teammates began their Team USA experience as members of the 2017 and 2022 Americas Cup teams that won silver medals. They went on to win a silver medal at the 2019 Lima Parapan American Games. Lastly, these two athletes were all contributing members of the roster at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics that captured a bronze medal. 

Ixhelt Gonzalez (Chicago, Illinois) earned a spot on the final roster after recently helping Team USA earn bronze at the 2022 World Championships. In addition, Gonzalez won silver at the 2022 Americas Cup in Brazil. Gonzalez was also a member of the bronze medal winning team from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.  
 
Abigail Bauleke (Savage, Michigan) returns to the roster after helping Team USA secure a bronze medal in Dubai at the 2022 World Championships. Bauleke's most prestigious accomplishment would be her bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Bauleke also brings gold medal experience from the 2019 IWBF Under 25 World Championships. Bauleke added to her trophy collection last summer with a silver medal at the 2022 Americas Cup.   
 
Emily Oberst (Brookfield, Wisconsin) will be making her first appearance at the Parapan Games after helping Team USA earn a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships. Oberst helped the U.S. Women's team win the silver-medal at the 2022 Americas Cup and was a member of the Worlds qualifying squad for the 2017 IWBF Americas Cup that also won silver.    

Kaitlyn Eaton (Houston, Texas) secures a spot on the final roster after being a member of the Team USA squad that earned bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Eaton began her Team USA experience as a member of the 2017 IWBF America's Cup team that won a silver medal in Cali, Colombia. She then went on to win a silver medal at the 2019 Lima Parapan American Games.  

Josie DeHart (Fruita, Colorado) makes the final roster after helping Team USA secure a silver medal at the 2022 Americas Cup. DeHart was also an alternate for the U.S. Women’s roster for the 2018 and 2022 World Championships. 

The following athletes have been named as alternates: Ali Ibanez (Murray, Utah), Jennifer Poist (McSherrystown, Pennsylvania), Mackenzie Soldan (Hemlock, California) and Zoe Voris (Chicago, Illinois). 

Also joining Head Coach Christina Schwab on the sidelines will be:  

- Assistant Coach Desiree Miller of Monroe, Washington  
- Assistant Coach Ryan Hynes of Germantown, Wisconsin  
- Team Leader Nikki Campbell of Clancy, Montana  
- Athletic Trainer Jennifer Kingsby of San Jose, California  

Assisting in preparations as part of the extended staff are:  

- Strength and Conditioning Coach Katie McClosky of Houston, Texas  
- Nutritionist Sally Baumann of Greater Brisbane, Australia  
- Sport Psychologist Adam O’Neil of Boulder, Colorado
