TUSCALOOSA, AL. – For a fourth consecutive season, Alabama is NWBA Women’s Intercollegiate Division National Champions, defeating UTA, 75-57 in the national title game at Stran-Hardin Arena.
The Tide battled back from a halftime deficit to retain national supremacy for a fourth straight season, the fifth time in six years and the 10th time in program history.
Alabama found themselves trailing 33-30 after 20 minutes of play and 40-35 in the early minutes of the third quarter. Bama mounted its comeback, finishing the third quarter on a 17-6 run, capped off by a basket from Bailey Moody at the buzzer to give the Tide a 52-46 lead going into the final period of play.
In the fourth quarter, Alabama built up a double-digit lead in the early moments and did not look back, outscoring UTA 23-11 in the final period to secure the victory and keep the national title in Tuscaloosa.
