Registration Dates and Membership Dues

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The NWBA Board of Directors has adopted a new NWBA Membership Program for the 2017-18 season. The new NWBA Membership program will advance the current structure of team membership, individual membership and event sanctioning. The NWBA has worked with its membership database provider to increase the “ease of use” for all members, and added significant features across the platform for the membership. A membership working group was created to gather feedback in redeveloping a membership program that best fits the NWBA membership.

The NWBA has enhanced the benefits for individual members with more educational materials; discounts from NWBA partners; player recognition opportunities; and ability for individual members to create their own profile page on the website.

Some of the significant additions for team memberships include: a resource manual to improve team operations; the re-introduction of the NWBA scorebook; live scoring app; score entry by team representatives and tournament hosts with a turn-key verification process; live streaming opportunities; and team based fundraising kits. The NWBA will continue to identify new programs for its teams, and present fundraising opportunities for teams to participate where money raised stays within the NWBA Team’s community.

The Board of Directors approved a new membership registration program with an increase in team registration fees, and individuals will now have a membership dues structure. The registration process will not have any processing fees and no more background check fees for non-athletes.

"The NWBA has been operating in a financial deficiency for an extended period of time and the cost of doing business continues to increase. The Board of Directors decided that it was necessary to increase annual dues to address the financial health of the organization while ensuring continuity of the services the NWBA provides,” said Sarah Castle, NWBA President. “The decision to increase membership dues is not one that we made lightly. We recognize that an increase of dues is a hardship on our members and we actively consulted with members to determine a structure that could be implemented to limit the impact of these changes. With that input, we have created a plan for all teams and individuals that minimizes the initial impact while also addressing the growing demands of the membership and financial needs of the organization.”

All teams will have an opportunity to establish a payment plan with all dues being paid in full by November 1. The payment plan for one-team is that 50 percent of the dues be paid upon registration, with the remaining balance due no later than November 1. Any organization that has two or more teams, will have to pay in full for one team, and then the remaining balance is due no later than November 1.

Any team who has not paid in full by November 1 will be ineligible for 2017-18 NWBA post season tournaments, and the team will not be a member in good standing until all dues are paid in full.

The NWBA Registration Fee for the 2017-18 Season are:

$600 for early registration (July 17-31)

$750 for open registration (August 1)

$20 for early registration (August 1-22)

$30 for open registration (August 23)

“The NWBA is committed to making continued improvements in the resources and benefits we can provide back to teams, and the Board is committed to this mission," said Castle.

The 2017-18 NWBA Membership Registration period is opening earlier than in prior years. This is to provide teams and players time to complete the necessary registration items, as well as providing the commissioners and staff a review period to ensure leagues are properly set for the 2017-18 NWBA season.

The NWBA staff looks forward to continuing to provide service to our members. If you have questions please contact Brandon McBeain, Director of Membership Services and Programs, at or (719) 266-4082 ext. 108.
