COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The 2018 U.S. National Team Selection Camps for both the Men’s and Women’s teams is underway at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center. The U.S. Men’s National Team Selection Camp started Wednesday, and will conclude on Saturday, January 7, when the U.S. Men’s National Team will be announced.
A pool of 30 athletes were invited, and 28 have arrived for the four-day try-out. Ten of the Rio Paralympic Team have returned for the selection camp in hopes of being selected for the team that will compete in Germany at the 2018 IWBF World Championships. The list of athletes is below.
The U.S. Women’s National Team Selection Camp will start on January 14 and conclude on January 17 with the announcement of the National Team. This pool is highlighted by Rio 2016 gold medalists Rose Hollermann of Elysian, Minnesota, Vanessa Erskine of Kearney, Missouri, and Abigail Dunkin of New Braunfels, Texas, returning for another tryout. A pool of 25 athletes has been invited for the tryouts. The list of athletes is below.
Both teams will be in preparations for the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, in August. The U.S. Women’s Team will have scheduled training camps monthly through August, while the U.S. Men’s Team will start their final preparations in May.
