Details Announced for Non-Athlete Memberships for 2023-24 NWBA Season

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to announce details for the Non-Athlete memberships and registration process for the 2023-2024 NWBA season.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to announce details for the Non-Athlete memberships and registration process for the 2023-2024 NWBA season. For the 10th year, the NWBA will utilize the same membership platform, SportsEngine.  

The following are the non-athlete roles within the NWBA that must complete an entry for 2023-24 NWBA Non-Athlete Registration:  

  • Coach 

  • Official 

  • Classifier 

  • Team Representative/Voting Delegate 

  • Team Support Staff Members (Statistician, Medical Professional, Team Classification Reviewer, Equipment Manager, Administrator, Personal Care Attendant, Other) 

  • Hall of Fame member 

  • Board of Directors 

  • Standing or Ad hoc Committee or Task Force Leadership 

  • Divisional and Conference Leadership 

  • Event Director or Sanction Holder 

  • Affiliate (Employees, Interns, Contractors, etc. 

The registration link for Non-Athletes will be posted on the NWBA webpage at www.nwba.org/individualregistration. The registration link will be available at 5 p.m. Mountain time on Tuesday, August 1. 

Non-Athlete Membership Dues

The following will be the Non-Athlete Membership Dues for the 2023-24 NWBA season: 
 
Early Individual Registration 
August 1, 2023 thru October 4, 2023 

  • $60 Non-Athlete 

 Open Individual Registration 

Register Thursday, October 5 and after 

  • $70 Non-Athlete 

This information was shared during the 2023 NWBA Annual Assembly (May 2023 - recording here). The 2023-24 NWBA season is the last year of the multi-year membership dues structure approved by the NWBA Board of Directors on June 15, 2018 (click here for more information). 

Becoming A Non-Athlete Member

To become a NWBA member in good standing, you will have completed each of the following: 

1. Establish, or sign into existing SportsEngine Account (same as previous years) 

2. Establish or renew your NWBA Membership (integrated directly in the registration process) 

3. Complete applicable 2023-2024 Registration Session (Non-Athlete) 

Only one entry for Non-Athlete Registration is required for individuals serving in multiple various roles. Members are only required to pay for one membership per season. A unique discount code will be provided to individuals submitting both an Athlete and Non-Athlete Registration.  The discount code will waive the NWBA membership registration fee, leaving only the NCSI fee for the background check (which is required for all Non-Athlete registrations).

All Non-Athletes are required to submit Background check information as it is integrated into that Registration. The NWBA has worked with SportsEngine to streamline the SafeSport training process for Non-Athletes for 2023-24 season (now with a comparable process used previously by Athletes). Non-Athletes that also compete as an Athlete should submit both an Athlete Registration and a Non-Athlete Registration. 

A team must complete Team Registration prior to an individual completing any registration (Junior Athlete, Adult Athlete, or Non-Athlete). Visit https://www.nwba.org/teamregistration for more information on team registration.
